Having carefully read the guidance on GOV.UK and together with Nene Park Golf Club we have taken the following view to help guide members and visitors joining us from a Tier 3 area.

The latest Government guidance advises that “organised outdoor sport can continue” with the “rule of six” straightforward due to group sizes being no more than fourballs. All booked tee times (including social and competition golf) can continue to be played, however these must be organised with the advance booking of a tee time with Nene Golf.

The question people seem to want clarity on revolves around travel, while this issue if partly addressed on GOV.UK, “you can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible”. There is no mention of crossing Tiers, or not, for the purpose of organised sport.

We have therefore taken the view that it is up to members and visitors from Tier 3 areas to decide whether they wish to visit the courses. However, we ask that if you or any member of your party have any symptoms of Covid-19 you refrain from visiting the course and that you keep up to date with your home government guidance. For best practice, Tier 3 residents should stick to Tier 3 rules when visiting Tier 2, so not use The Granary or Woodman pubs and follow our Covid-secure golf rules which are the same in both tiers so straightforward to adhere to. It is necessary that you follow all restrictions and that by visiting us you and your party are agreeing to be compliant with the law.

We will continue to monitor the restrictions and guidelines and will adapt these arrangements as circumstances change. In making these decisions we have taken note of the support that members have shown to the golf courses and the Club over a difficult year for all.
